ATTENTION NON-REGISTERED USERS! - Zooks - 12-22-2014
Dear Mr./Ms. Unregistered User,
WE LOVE YA'LL!! -- But please note, I have been slowly tightening the reigns on anonymous access due to the repeated daily grind of BS spambots that constantly attempt to create accounts for a way to peddle their flith-flarn filth! (aaaand breathe...) Specifically, I have been banning entire IP ranges when multiple simultaneous logins are detected that are not associated with a user account.
That said, if you are someone who checks in frequently but hasn't registered because you don't post, you might find yourself mistaken as a spambot one day and accidentally banned. Once this happens it will be a pain for me to "unban" you unless you supply all the ip's you frequent on a regular basis - good luck novice computer guy with 18 devices and 3 service providers!. The best way to avoid this is to PLEASE REGISTER EVEN IF YOU DONT CONTRIBUTE. You do need to supply a valid email when you register because it will send you a verification link that needs to be clicked. This step is a pain I know and it discourages a good deal of folks from registering but its a necessary bit as it has cut down on the amount of forum spam dramatically!! I don't recommend using your work email
, but its a good idea to use a "recreational" email you check on a regular basis. This will ensure you receive timely notifications when subscribed to threads are updated or when receiving private messages from teammates. I promise not sell you out to the junk-mail gods.
